Free Flap Surgery (also known as microvascular free flap reconstruction) is an advanced reconstructive surgical procedure used to restore form and function where major tissue loss has occurred—most commonly after tumour removal in head and neck cancer or significant trauma. This technique involves transferring healthy tissue from one part of the body to another, reconnecting tiny blood vessels under a microscope to ensure the transplanted tissue survives and integrates with the surrounding area.
Unlike simple skin grafts, free flaps come with their own blood supply, making them suitable for repairing larger, deeper, and more complex defects
